The author connects free time with concepts and theories developed in the field of youth culture or subculture studies. These are attempts to resolve the collectively perceived contradictions of the daily lives of youngsters. These attempts at resolving, responding to the hardships and problems in the life world of vulnerable youngsters are also a signal and sign that something is happening in their life world. Knowledge and findings from the field of leisure and youth subcultures are then used as a starting point in the context of social work with vulnerable youngsters. The leisure time and life strategies developed by vulnerable youngsters within it are a place and an opportunity where we can make contact and establish a social work working relationship with vulnerable youngsters. In the second part of the paper, a specific segment of the activities of professionals from the 1970s to the 1990s from High School of Social Workers in Ljubljana in the field of youth leisure activities, is summerised. These approaches were based on the experience of theoretical and conceptual shifts and new considerations in social sciences, also as a result of social movements and social change in general in the second half of the 1960s"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"V prispevku so predstavljeni koncepti, teorije in opredelitve analitskega pojma prosti čas. Prosti čas avtor poveže s koncepti in spoznanji s področja preučevanj mladinskih kultur ali subkultur. To so namreč poskusi razrešitve kolektivno zaznanih protislovij vsakdanjega življenja mladostnikov. Ti poskusi razrešitev, odzivov na stiske in težave v življenjskem svetu ranljivih mladostnikov so hkrati tudi znamenje, sporočilo, da se nekaj dogaja v njihovem življenjskem svetu. Spoznanja in ugotovitve s področja preučevanj prostega časa in mladinskih subkultur ustvarjajo kontekst socialnega dela z ranljivimi mladostniki. Prosti čas in strategije življenja, ki jih razvijajo ranljivi mladostniki v njem, so namreč prostor in priložnost za navezovanje stikov in vzpostavitve socialnodelovnega odnosa z ranljivimi mladostniki. V drugem delu prispevka je predstavljen določen segment dejavnosti strokovnjakov od sedemdesetih do devetdesetih let 20. stoletja s takrat Višje šole za socialne delavce na področju prostočasnih dejavnosti mladih.
