Although there are different definitions of physical literacy, which can make measurement and interpretation of findings difficult, experts agree that it is important for reducing the risk of chronic diseases and promoting physical, psychological, social and cognitive well-being. This article highlights the complexity of physical literacy, which encompasses physical, psychological, social and cognitive domains, and its importance in promoting healthy lifestyles and improving public health. Research shows a link between high levels of physical literacy and better health indicators, including body mass index, waist circumference, body weight, grip strength and cardiorespiratory fitness. In addition, physical literacy promotes daily physical activity and reduces sedentary behaviour, which is crucial for the prevention of modern health problems. Improving physical literacy and public health requires comprehensive approaches that include the development of physical activity skills from early childhood, the integration of physical activity into education systems and the promotion of policies and programmes to support these goals"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Gibalna pismenost, ki je vse bolj priznana kot ključni element pri spodbujanju zdravja in dobrega počutja na svetovni ravni, združuje motivacijo, samozavest, telesno kompetenco ter znanje in razumevanje, ki posamezniku omogočajo vrednotenje in odgovorno sodelovanje v gibalnih aktivnostih skozi vse življenje. Čeprav poznamo različne definicije gibalne pismenosti, ki lahko otežijo merjenje in interpretacijo ugotovitev, se strokovnjaki strinjajo, da je pomembna za zmanjševanje tveganja za kronične bolezni ter za spodbujanje telesne, psihološke, družbene in kognitivne blaginje. Ta članek poudarja kompleksnost gibalne pismenosti, ki zajema telesno, psihološko, družbeno in kognitivno področje, ter njen pomen pri spodbujanju zdravega življenjskega sloga in izboljšanju javnega zdravja. Raziskave kažejo povezave med visoko stopnjo gibalne pismenosti in boljšimi zdravstvenimi kazalniki, vključno z indeksom telesne mase, obsegom pasu, telesno maso, močjo prijema in srčno- -dihalno zmogljivostjo. Poleg tega gibalna pismenost spodbuja vsakodnevno gibalno aktivnost in zmanjšuje sedentarno vedenje, kar je ključno za preprečevanje sodobnih zdravstvenih težav.
