Better understanding of neurophysiological mechanisms underlying stroke recovery, synergistic combination of rehabilitation and pharmacological agents, emerging technologies, neurotransplantation and the benefit of well-organized stroke services have enabled creative approaches in stroke rehabilitation. There are many challenges in forming new therapeutic methods and verifying their effectiveness as well as in convincing the policymakers of the importance of well-organized and accessible rehabilitation after stroke.
