Z dialogom pa se ni ukvarjal samo na teoretični ravni - ko mu je namenil številne razprave, ampak je dialog postal tudi način njegovega življenja, ki ga je skušal živeti v skladu s svojim škofovskim geslom Oznanjujte evangelij.
