This form of exercise is based on three basic principles; diversity, high intensity and functional motion. Despite its many beneficial physiological impacts, it is often regarded as having a negative health impact, probably due to the high intensity of the workouts. The purpose of the literature review was to present the incidence, characteristics and risk factors for musculoskeletal injuries in CrossFit training. The literature search was done in the PubMed database with the following key words CrossFit AND injury. Eight studies met the inclusion criteria. The incidence of musculoskeletal injuries at CrossFit training ranged between 19,4% and 56,6%; the incidence rate was between 2,3 and 18,9 injuries/1000 hours of exercise. The most common injuries were those of the shoulder, lower back and knee. The risk factors recognised for CrossFit-related musculoskeletal injuries were male gender, higher body mass and height, previous injuries and elite athletes. Also, athletes who train for a shorter or longer training period, several times a week and don’t have inadequate supervision by a qualified trainer are more prone to the injuries. Exercising with pain is also a risk factor. The incidence and rate of incidence for CrossFit-related musculoskeletal injuries can be compared to other similar sports (gymnastics, athletics, Olympic heavy lifting, powerlifting). By considering the significant risk factors and individually modifying the workouts, we can reduce the incidence of CrossFit-related musculoskeletal injuries</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Vadba crossfit vključuje gimnastične elemente, troboj moči, olimpijsko dviganje uteži in aerobno vadbo ter temelji na načelih raznolikosti, visoke intenzivnosti in funkcionalnem gibanju. Kljub številnim pozitivnim fiziološkim učinkom je predvsem zaradi visoke intenzivnosti pogosto obravnavana kot zdravju škodljiva. Namen pregleda literature je bil predstaviti pojavnost, značilnosti in dejavnike tveganja za mišično-kostne poškodbe pri vadbi crossfit. Raziskave smo iskali v podatkovni zbirki PubMed s ključnima besedama CrossFit AND injury. Vključitvenim kriterijem je ustrezalo osem raziskav. Incidenca mišično-kostnih poškodb pri vadbi crossfit je znašala med 19,4 % in 56,6 %, stopnja incidence pa med 2,3 in 18,9 poškodbe na 1000 ur vadbe. Najpogostejše so bile poškodbe ramena, ledvene hrbtenice in kolena. Večje tveganje za nastanek poškodb je pri moških, večjih in težjih vadečih, vadečih s preteklimi poškodbami ter tekmovalcih. Prav tako so k poškodbam bolj nagnjeni vadeči, ki trenirajo krajši čas ali dalj časa, večkrat tedensko in nimajo zadostnega nadzora usposobljenega trenerja. Tudi nadaljevanje vadbe kljub bolečini predstavlja dejavnik tveganja. Incidenca in stopnja incidence mišično-kostnih poškodb pri crossfitu sta primerljivi s podobnimi športi (gimnastika, atletika, olimpijsko dviganje uteži, troboj moči).
