Susceptibility to these injuries is influenced by the muscle’s architectural characteristics, including fascicle length and pennation angle, muscle thickness, volume and cross-sectional area. These characteristics can be modified by various stimuli, including resistance training. This systematic review aimed to examine and present available literature on the effects of different exercise interventions on architectural and morphological characteristics of the hamstring muscles. The search was conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library and Scopus in April 2024. Quality of the literature was assessed using the PEDro scale. We included 14 studies with comparative or control groups, which investigated the effects of exercise interventions on architectural and morphological characteristics of the hamstring muscles. The quality of the included studies ranged from poor to good; one study was of poor, seven were of moderate, and six were of good quality. In 12 out of 14 studies, eccentric exercise effectively lengthened the muscle fascicles of the hamstrings. Four studies found that a detraining period caused re-shortening of the biceps femoris long head (BFlh) fascicles. In nine out of 13 studies, pennation angle of the BFlh decreased, while one study reported an increase. After detraining, two studies found no change in the pennation angle, one found a decrease, and one an increase. Seven out of 14 studies observed an increase in volume, thickness, or cross-sectional area of the BFlh. Further research is needed to determine the most effective training variables</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Poškodba zadnjih stegenskih mišic (ZSM) je med najpogostejšimi v športu. Literaturo smo iskali aprila 2024 po podatkovnih zbirkah PubMed, Web of Science, Cohrane library in Scopus. Kakovost izbranih virov smo ocenili z lestvico PEDro. Za določitev spremenljivk vadbe, pri katerih je ta najučinkovitejša, so potrebne nadaljnje raziskave</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-9HETCIG4"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-9HETCIG4" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-9HETCIG4/0f774080-df18-46a0-a959-e66056de5421/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerza v Ljubljani, Fakulteta za šport</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-9HETCIG4/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-9HETCIG4" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
