I may say that a number of radiologists dealing with mammography are not sufficiently acquainted with itstechnological background. The article is limited to presenting the basics which are, from my viewpoint, most important; some of the fields of interest were left out due to the lack of space (compression preparations, positioning,an automatic exposure device, quality control and quality assurance of mammograms). In order to expand the knowledge of the basics and to be effocoent in solving specific technical problems, we need to consult up-to-date technical literature and other sourcesZa optimatizacijo tehnologije v mamografiji je potrebno kvantitativno preverjanje, ki ga mora obvladati radiolog. Menim, da marsikateri radiolog, kise ukvarja z mamografijo ne pozna zadovoljivo tega dela stroke. V prispevku so bile pregledno nakazane le tiste osnove, ki so po mojem mnenju najpomembnejše; nekatera področja so bila zaradi prostorske stiske namenoma izpuščena (priprave za kompresijo in pozicioniranje, naprava za avtomatsko ekspozicijo v radiografiji, kontrola in zagotavljanje kvalitete mamografa).
