In his introduction, the author points out several fundamental turning points in the tradition of natural law and landmarks in the perception of Hobbes, prevalent in 18th century France, which reveal Diderot's interest in Hobbes' philosophy. Through the textual analysis of Diderot's essay, the author draws our attention to the similarity between Diderot's points of departure and Hobbes' writings and the inconsistency in Diderot's conclusions whereby the transition between nature and society is not derived from the relevant premises and therefore remains suspended between the non-morality of the natural man and the morality of the social manŠtudija je komentar sestavka Naravno pravo, ki ga je Diderot napisal za Enciklopedijo, in poskus njegove kontekstualizacije, ki odkriva veliko bližino Diderotovega in Hobbesovega pristopa k razreševanju trnovega vprašanja določitve naravnega prava. Uvodoma opozorim na nekaj temeljnih ločnic v naravnopravni tradiciji in navedem nekaj mejnikov v recepciji Hobbesa v Franciji 18. stoletja, ki pokažejo na Diderotovo zanimanje za Hobbesovo filozofijo.
