In this way, word-formation groups with words derived from the same root and meaning are taken into account. The aim of this article is (1) to present word-formation and meaning producing characteristics of select simplex Slovene verbs with connotative meaning, and (2) within a word-formation group, to specify places where the basis of word-formation lacks connotative meaning, whereas derivatives possess it (gledati -> ogledati -> ogleduh nav. slabš.; videti -> vidljiv knjiž. -> vidljivost)Metodologija stopenjskega besedotvorja presega raziskovanje binarnega odnosa med motivirajočo in motivirano besedo in ga razširja na raziskovanje razmerja med netvorjenko in vsemi njenimi neposrednimi (glagol pogledati glede na glagol gledati) in posrednimi tvorjenkami (samostalnik pogled glede na glagol gledati).
