Work zones can have a significant impact on the traffic flow as they represent a bottleneck that causes motorways to operate at lower levels of capacity. This article considers various methods found in the literature for determining the capacity of motorway work zones. We collected data on traffic volumes, data on the locations of traffic counters, and data on work zones implemented in a certain time period on the Slovenian motorway network. The collected data form the basis for regression analysis of queue discharge rates and determination of cumulative capacity distribution functions using the maximum likelihood method. We studied the effect of heavy vehicles, longitudinal grade, lane narrowing and traffic detour on the work zone capacity. In this way we accounted for the temporary traffic lane configuration during work zones (lane narrowing and diversion of traffic), which is not included in the model for the determination of work zone capacity in HCM 6"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Zaradi staranja avtocestnega omrežja bomo v prihodnosti priča vse bolj obsežnim vzdrževalnim delom in pogostejšim avtocestnim zaporam. Delovna zapora predstavlja ozko grlo in zato poslabša nivo usluge avtocestnega odseka. V študiji smo obravnavali različne metode za ocenjevanje prepustnosti avtocestnih odsekov pri delovnih zaporah. Pridobili smo podatke o prometnih obremenitvah, podatke o lokacijah avtomatskih števnih mest in podatke o različnih delovnih zaporah, ki so se izvajale na našem avtocestnem omrežju. Na podlagi pridobljenih podatkov smo z regresijsko analizo ocenili pretoke v času zastoja, z metodo največjega verjetja pa določili porazdelitvene funkcije prepustnosti avtocestnih odsekov pri posameznih tipih zapor. Ugotavljali smo, kako na prepustnost avtocestnega odseka pri zapori vpliva prisotnost tovornih vozil, vzdolžni naklon ceste, različne izvedbe zožitev in preusmeritev prometa na sosednje prometne pasove.
