It is covered by two forest management units, Ljubljana and Polje. Main problems of the management are associated with a high share of scattered private property. The situation in the field offorest protection and state forest roads is problematic. Realization of the planned activities is low and a strong pressure is put onto the forest edge and forest land due to the urbanization and forest use. The situation concerning the area covered with special purpose forests is especially difficult; the City Council of Ljubljana is expected to adopt a special provision declaring them special purpose forestsMestna občina Ljubljana je relativno gozdnata, čeprav je razporejenost gozdov neenakomerna. Pokrivata jo dve gozdnogospodarski enoti, Ljubljana in Polje. Glavne težave pri gospodarjenju so povezane z velikim deležem razdrobljene zasebne posesti. Problematično je stanje na področju varstva gozdov in stanja gozdnih prometnic. Realizacija načrtovanih del je nizka, velik pa je pritisk na gozdni rob in gozdni prostor z gradnjami in rabo gozdov.
