Pass interception (steals) should therefore become one of the most important means for achieving defensive goals. A successfully intercepted pass does not only mean a successful defence, but also offers the players a quick transition to the counterattack and scoring an easy goal. In particular, such »ball-oriented« defence should be used by defenders in younger age categories. Therefore, it is important to note that such a trend was observed at the last man’s U19 World Championship in Croatia. In article, we present some typical ball interception actions"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Obramba v rokometu bi se morala bolj usmeriti v pokrivanje prostora in odvzemanje žoge, namesto da je neposredno usmerjena na telo nasprotnika. Prestrezanje podaj bi zato moralo postati eno najpomembnejših sredstev za dosego obrambnih ciljev. Uspešno prestrežena podaja ne pomeni le uspešne obrambe, temveč igralcem omogoča hiter prehod v protinapad in dosego enostavnega gola. Še posebej v mlajših starostnih kategorijah bi morali branilci uporabljati takšno »na žogo usmerjeno« obrambo.
