The aim of the study was to identify forms of online shaming and the different motives of online users for online shaming. Using a qualitative multiple case study approach, we analysed 24,382 online comments from six different cases of Slovenian online shaming. We have identified five forms of online shaming: bullying, vigilantism, bigotry, calls for resignation/apology and ridicule. In the Slovenian sample, we further identified two specific forms of shaming not found in the foreign literature, namely psychological devaluation and discreditation. According to online users, victims of shaming have broken the social norm in three of the most common ways: by mistake, by indifference to others or by deliberately harming others. Online users were most likely to make fun of victims who broke the social norm by mistake, while victims who deliberately harm other people are most likely to be bullied. The norms violated by the victim were based on social and religious values. We have found that sympathy for the subject who is supposedly affected by the norm violation can lead to more aggressive forms of shaming. The study may have practical value for all professional profiles dealing with online users, as the findings help to understand the context in which online shaming is practised</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Spletno sramotenje je odziv množice spletnih uporabnikov na posameznika, ki naj bi kršil socialno normo. Namen študije je bil prepoznati oblike spletnega sramotenja in različne motive spletnih uporabnikov za spletno sramotenje. S kvalitativnim pristopom multiple študije primera smo analizirali 24.382 spletnih komentarjev iz šestih različnih primerov slovenskega spletnega sramotenja. Prepoznali smo pet oblik spletnega sramotenja: ustrahovanje, vigilantizem, fanatizem, pozivanje k odpovedi/opravičilu in norčevanje. Študija ima lahko praktično vrednost za vse strokovne profile, ki se ukvarjajo s spletnimi uporabniki, saj ugotovitve raziskave pomagajo razumeti kontekst izvajanja spletnega sramotenja</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-73P9GS31"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-73P9GS31" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-73P9GS31/20524d26-c844-4179-9cca-968c0ca4e760/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Društvo psihologov Slovenije</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-73P9GS31/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-73P9GS31" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
