Still, even medicinal plants can be the object of in-depth research. Research allows us to document folk use and test whether traditional findings were correct and experience objective. It also allows us to explore entirely new plant species, new ways of medicine preparation and new purposes for their use. At the Faculty of Pharmacy in Ljubljana we have been researching silver fir (Abies alba) extracts for years. Silver fir is the only fir species occurring in Slovenia and has been used, although to a very limited extent, in folk medicine. Our research is therefore largely original and aims to discover new biological effects of this plant"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Zdravilne rastline običajno povezujemo s tradicionalno uporabo in izročilom preteklih generacij. Pa vendar so tudi zdravilne rastline lahko predmet poglobljenih raziskav. V raziskavah lahko dokumentiramo ljudsko uporabo in preverjamo, ali so ljudska dognanja pravilna in izkušnje objektivne. Lahko pa pri raziskavah zdravilnih rastlin tudi raziskujemo povsem nove vrste rastlin, nove načine priprave zdravil in nove namene njihove uporabe. Na Fakulteti za farmacijo v Ljubljani že vrsto let raziskujemo izvlečke iz bele jelke (Abies alba). Bela jelka je edina vrsta jelke, ki raste pri nas in se je, sicer v zelo majhnem obsegu, uporabljala že v ljudski medicini.
