Vsaka skupina metod ima svoje značilnosti, ki izhajajo iz namena, ki je lahko izboljšanje živčnih ali mišičnih dejavnikov moči s ciljem povečanja največje moči, hitre moči ali vzdržljivosti v moči. Poleg priprave na vadbo, načina mišičnega naprezanja, števila ponovitev in serij ter odmorov so za učinkovito izvajanje vadbe moči pomembni tudi načini izvajanja posameznih ponovitev in so iz tega razloga natančno opisani: tekoče, hitre in eksplozivne koncentrične, ekscentrične, ekscentrično-koncentrične in izometrične ponovitve.
