The authors analyse the ways in which people who came to Slovenia because of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the beginning of the 1990s interpret their reasons to come to Slovenia, describe their subjective feelings regarding lifein Slovenia, recount their strategies of response to the treatment they received in the Slovenian social space and by the people within it, and interpret the state policy conducted towards them by the Republic of Slovenia.The analysis in the contribution focuses on the points in which the feeling of foreignness is constituted with regards to the so-called refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the feeling of cultural proximity in relation to the Slovenian social-cultural space. The contribution also addresses the connection between the construction of foreignness or cultural proximity ad xenophobia and discrimination, both on the level of individuals, Slovene stateinstitutions and wider society"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Članek opisuje izvedeno terensko raziskavo med osebami, ki so v Sloveniji znane kot begunci iz Bosne in Hercegovine, vendar jim status beguncev ni bil nikoli uradno podeljen. V njem avtor in avtorice analizirajo, kako osebe, ki so v Slovenijo prišle zaradi vojne v Bosni in Hercegovini v začetku devetdesetih let 20. stoletja, interpretirajo svoje razloge za prihod v Slovenijo, opisujejo, kakšni so njihovi subjektivni občutki o življenju v Sloveniji, ter pripovedujejo, kakšne so njihove strategije odzivanja na ravnanje slovenskega družbenega prostora in ljudi v njem do njih, ter kako interpretirajo državno politiko, ki jo je do njih vodila R Slovenija.
