Thus another question comes to mind, namely what is the destiny of a body in the era of unstoppable technological development which is not a self-generating phenomenon, but a product of human activity. What does a body need in such circumstances for self-preservation and which new roles of body functioning are available? It is only then that the issues of community, interpersonal relations, social order and living space (determining the quality of co-living and existence) become relevant. A space is an indispensable but not a sufficient category of existence. Therefore, management of space is the first task of all sciences and public services in charge of caring for and managing of space. The main question concerning the function of public space is how to divide the territory into priority zones (walkways and sports grounds, traffic, shopping centres, industrial zones, administrative buildings, etc.) as well as maintaining and protecting public order as a key factor of using public space. The purpose of the article is to update the discussed theme, encourage further discussion and support greater engagement of the sports science in the domain of public space. The methods used in the compiling of this article included comparative record keeping and analysis of findings after reviewing the proceedings, especially of the previous ECSS congresses, whereby it was found that the topic of space had not yet been dealt with"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Ko razmišljamo o razmerju šport-prostor, se ne moremo izogniti vprašanju telesa kot najbolj intimnega osebnega prostora, sicer predmeta športnega delovanja, v katerem domujejo vse druge lastnosti človeškega bitja. V nadaljevanju se samo od sebe ponuja vprašanje usode telesa v času neustavljivega tehnološkega razvoja, ki za nameček ni samorasel pojav, temveč produkt človekovega delovanja. Kaj telo v takih razmerah potrebuje za samoohranitev in kakšne nove vloge funkcioniranja telesa so na voljo? Šele nato postanejo relevantna vprašanja skupnosti, medsebojnih odnosov, družbenega reda in življenjskega prostora, ki narekuje kakovost sobivanja ter obstoja. Prostor je nujna, ne pa tudi zadostna kategorija obstoja. Zato je ravnanje s prostorom prva naloga vseh strok in javnih služb, ki so pristojne za skrb in urejanje prostora. Glavno vprašanje pri funkciji javnega prostora je delitev teritorija na prioritetne cone (pešpoti in igrišča, promet, trgovski centri, industrijske cone, upravna poslopja ...) ter vzdrževanje in varovanje javnega reda kot ključnega dejavnika uporabe javnega prostora. Namen prispevka je aktualizacija naslovne tematike, spodbuda za nadaljnjo obravnavo in podpora večji angažiranosti športne stroke na področju javnega prostora.
