Among the newer sciences is kinesiology, which has been increasingly gaining ground among the already established ones. However, there is still a grey area in sport (this contribution focuses on basketball) concerning kinesiologists’ work, which is reflected in a lack of definition of their work plan. Consequently, certain problems occur in practice in the relationships between kinesiologists and coaches, kinesiologists and players (athletes), kinesiologists and club management, and kinesiologists and parents, as well as physiotherapists. The key role is certainly played by the Basketball Federation of Slovenia which should define in the Slovenian Basketball Development Guidelines the place and role of the kinesiologist in a basketball club. This way a higher level of proficiency and effectiveness would be achieved in clubs, along with progress at the national level. To establish themselves and become successful, highly qualified workers in basketball need high dedication work, regular education and effective communication"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Lažji dostop do informacij je povzročil tudi hitrejši razvoj znanstvenih ved in njihovo uporabnost v vsakdanjem življenju. Med novejšimi vedami je tudi kineziologija, ki vse bolj pridobiva status med trdno uveljavljenimi vedami. Še vedno je v športu (v prispevku se bom osredotočil na košarko) čutiti sivo območje glede dela kineziologov, ki se kaže predvsem zaradi njihovega neopredeljenega delovnega načrta. Posledično se v praksi pojavljajo določene problematike pri odnosih med kineziologi in trenerji, kineziologi in igralci (športniki), kineziologi in upravo kluba, kineziologi in starši ter s fizioterapevti. Vsekakor ima ključno vlogo pri tem Košarkarska zveza Slovenije, ki bi morala v Smernicah razvoja košarke v Sloveniji opredeliti mesto in vlogo kineziologa v košarkarskem klubu. S tem bi dosegli višjo raven strokovnosti in učinkovitosti v klubih, hkrati pa tudi napredek na državni ravni.
