Only basic guidelines are provided for the latter while the former are relatively well described. This is probably the reason why in practice simplified procedures are still applied most often. There is often an assumption among engineers that simplified approaches frequently lead to exaggerated 'safe-side' solutions, such as excessive fire protection of the structure. On the other hand, there are indications in the scientific literature that these methods could even be 'unsafe' for some specific cases. But to investigate these suspicions in more detail and to increase the motivation of engineers to implement new, advanced design approaches, more evidence in this regard will be needed in the future, based on real cases of building fires known to the public from the past. This article contributes to this goal by analysing the RC structure of a building similar to the one used for the service and sales of cars in Jesenice, where a severe fire occurred in late 2016</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Za požarno analizo konstrukcij je skladno z Evrokodom danes dovoljena raba poenostavljenih in naprednejših pristopov. Za razliko od naprednih metod, za katere Evrokod žal podaja zgolj osnovne usmeritve, natančneje pa metod ne opisuje, so poenostavljene metode opisane sorazmerno dobro. Verjetno jih tudi zato inženirji v praksi uporabijo najpogosteje. Med inženirji se pogosto pojavlja domneva, da so poenostavljene metode velikokrat pretirano na (kot pogovorno rečemo) "varni" strani, kar vzbuja sum, da so pogosto pretirane tudi projektne rešitve, npr. v smislu pretirane požarne zaščite konstrukcije. Po drugi strani pa se v znanstveni literaturi pojavljajo namigi, da bi v nekaterih specifičnih primerih te metode lahko bile nasprotno celo na "nevarni" strani. A da bi bolje raziskali tovrstna ugibanja in zvišali motivacijo inženirjev k učenju novih, naprednejših pristopov požarno varnega projektiranja, bomo v zvezi s tem potrebovali jasnejše dokaze, ti pa bodo morali temeljiti na primerih resničnih požarov stavb, ki so javnosti poznani iz preteklosti. Na enega takšnih primerov se opira tudi ta članek.
