Experiencing pain is subjective and it is difficult to define it objectively. Various questionnaires have been designed to measure the fear of pain, which is the most common psychological consequence of dealing with these problems. Since we do not have a suitable instrument for assessing the experience of fear of pain in Slovenia, we decided to translate and adapt the Fear of pain questionnaire for children (FOPQ-C), which is established in Europe and around the world. Methods: We translated the questionnaire in accordance with the recommendations for translating questionnaires: from the original version in English, we translated the questionnaire into Slovenian, and then back into English. The Slovenian translation of the questionnaire was used in 35 children and adolescents who were included in the treatment due to experiencing chronic non-cancer pain. All of them gave feedback on individual items of the questionnaire. We estimated internal consistency of the questionnaire and discrimination index of individual items. Seventeen participants filled in the questionnaire again after one week, which enabled us to estimate the translated questionnaire's reliability in terms of repeatability. Results: The sample of participants was not proportionally distributed according to age and gender. The participants singled out items 8 and 23 as problematic, which also proved to have poor discrimination ability. We have therefore reformulated both items. The estimated internal consistency of the questionnaire was very high (? = 0.93). The average score did not change statistically significantly at repeated assessment, and the estimated repeatability was very high (? = 0.98). Conclusion: The translation of the FOPQ-C into Slovenian, when used with a pilot group of subjects, generally proved to be comprehensible and appropriate. We believe it represents a useful aid in clinical work</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Izhodišče: Kronična nerakava bolečina prizadene okrog 10 % otrok in mladostnikov in vpliva na kakovost njihovega življenja. Ocenili smo notranjo skladnost vprašalnika in diskriminativnost posameznih postavk. Sedemnajst preiskovancev je vprašalnik izpolnilo dvakrat v razmiku enega tedna, kar nam je omogočilo oceno zanesljivosti slovenskega prevoda vprašalnika z vidika ponovnega merjenja. Rezultati: Vzorec preiskovancev ni bil sorazmerno razporejen glede na starost in spol. Preiskovanci so kot vprašljivi izpostavili postavki 8 in 23. Izkazali sta se tudi kot najmanj diskriminativni. Obe postavki smo zato preoblikovali. Menimo, da predstavlja uporaben pripomoček pri kliničnem delu</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-5Y1ZXBZN"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-5Y1ZXBZN" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-5Y1ZXBZN/65cc4a51-dd71-4ed3-a367-bc71109d1cf1/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerzitetni rehabilitacijski inštitut RS – Soča</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-5Y1ZXBZN/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-5Y1ZXBZN" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
