To achieve this goal, the paper applies a historical analysis. Special attention is paid to the significance of the Cold War as an obstacle to further development of the global human rights regime. The paper relies on extensive use of primary sources - human rights documents adopted by the UN over the period of seven decades. The paper ends by reflecting on further challenges for the UN in the field of international protection of human rights"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Cilj prispevka je analizirati vlogo Organizacije združenih narodov (OZN) na področju mednarodnega varstva človekovih pravic, in sicer tako na področju razvoja norm (prek sprejemanja mednarodnih konvencij) kot tudi na področju razvoja nadzornih mehanizmov. Prispevek razvoj mednarodnega režima za varstvo človekovih pravic na globalni ravni obravnava z zgodovinsko analizo, pri čemer je posebna pozornost namenjena analizi vloge hladne vojne. Prispevek temelji zlasti na analizi primarnih virov - dokumentov, ki so bili sprejeti pod okriljem OZN v njeni 70-letni zgodovini.
