A semi-analytical study was carried out to evaluate the load carrying capacity of timber columns under fire exposure. Special attention was paid to the critical buckling loads. For this purpose, a parametric study was conducted to investigate the effect of slenderness ratio, load level and water content on the critical buckling loads of timber columns. The results of this preliminary study showed that with increasing exposure time,slenderness ratio and load ratio significantly decrease the critical buckling load. On the other hand, the critical buckling load increases with the increase of the initial water content of timber. Moreover, the critical time decreases with the increase of load ratioV članku je predstavljen matematični model in njegova semi-analitična rešitev za račun kritičnih uklonskih sil lesenih stebrov, ki, izpostavljeni požaru, oglenijo.Matematični model upošteva temperaturno odvisne termomehanske lastnosti lesa in oglja. Pri določitvi temperaturnega in vlažnostnega polja po prečnem prerezu lesenega stebra je upoštevan povezan prehod toplote in vlage. Z razvitim matematičnim modelom je bila izvedena parametrična analiza, s katero smo analizirali vpliv vitkosti, nivoja obtežbe in začetne vlažnosti na kritične uklonske sile lesenega stebra. Izkaže se, da se z naraščanjem vitkosti kritična uklonska sila lesenega stebra zmanjšuje, medtem ko se zvišanjem začetne vlažnosti lesa ta povečuje.
