Pri tem se osredotoča na dve vprašanji. (1) Vprašanje, povezano z Marcelinovo kronologijo, pri čemer zagovarja tezo, da se je Marcelin osamosvojil v Dalmaciji že po Aetijevem umoru (454), ne šele po umoru Majorijana (461). (2) V Marcelinovem času je bila Dalmacija avtonomna državna tvorba, ki je kot pomembna vojaška sila sodelovala tako z Vzhodno- kot z Zahodnorimskim cesarstvom. Dosledna datacija po zahodnih konzulih na napisih opozarja na to, da se je Dalmacija po svoji identiteti definirala kot del Zahodnorimskega cesarstva.
