Critical cultural literacy expands the idea of cultural literacy, while cultural literacy recognizes culture as (merely) a set of knowledge, critical cultural literacy understands it as a dynamic and transformative educational process that critically examines existing social hierarchies and inequalities. In Slovenia, this is still a relatively new and underdeveloped concept, but related concepts are emerging highlighting the importance of critically addressing social life in multicultural communities. However, its implementation in practice is a complex, slow, and long-term process, as evidenced by the gap between existing guidelines — which in various ways promote multiculturalism and critical thinking in education— and the everyday practices in schools</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Prispevek obravnava kritično kulturno pismenost kot izobraževalni okvir in enega od načinov naslavljanja večkulturnosti sodobnih družb ter njeno uveljavljenost v izobraževanju, raziskovanju in civilni družbi v Sloveniji. Kritična kulturna pismenost nadgrajuje idejo kulturne pismenosti, ki kulturo prepoznava kot (le) nabor znanj s tem, da jo razume kot dinamičen in transformativen izobraževalni proces, ki kritično obravnava obstoječe družbene hierarhije in neenakosti. V Sloveniji je ta proces še razmeroma nov in neuveljavljen koncept, pojavljajo pa se sorodni koncepti, ki kažejo na pomen kritične obravnave družbenega življenja v večkulturnih skupnostih.
