It argues that the Information Society does not refer to one thing or trend, but is made up of a number of competing, and often contradictory analyses of the development of the mode of production, each with different concepts of the role of information in economic development and different definitions of information workers. Media centric versions of the Information Society are then critiqued in the light of empirical evidence. Finally an assessment is made of what Information Society theory can contribute to our understanding of changes in the structure of the labour market associated with the growth of information work in relation to class and of globalisation through the concept of the death of distance</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Z analizo na razredni analizi utemeljenega pristopa k raziskovanju medijev članek postavlja politično ekonomijo medijev v kontekst politične ekonomije informacijske družbe. Članek se končuje z oceno, kaj lahko teorija informacijske družbe s pojmom "konca razdalje" prispeva k razumevanju sprememb v strukturi trga dela, ki so povezane z naraščanjem informacijskega dela, v odnosu do razreda in globalizacije</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-4DPNRATO"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-4DPNRATO" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-4DPNRATO/7a922b1d-b1d9-4c4f-b9f6-b5d443ae8c42/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Evropski inštitut za komuniciranje in kulturo - EURICOM</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-4DPNRATO/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-4DPNRATO" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
