The joint starting point was the book, the beginnings of its design, and writing which counts as starting point of graphic design. Among visual means of communication there is also book cover which has to include appropriate layout of message elements in text and picture. This is why a survey of 145 secondary school students was conducted to try to find out how much book design influences the choice of reading, but in teenagers. Results show that book design has an important effect on choice of reading, but only until book content is known. However, the most influential in teenagers' reading choices is a recommendation of a friend"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"V prispevku je predstavljen primer povezovanja med knjižničnim informacijskim znanjem, modulom vizualne komunikacije in predmetom slovenščine. Skupno izhodišče povezave je bila knjiga ter njeni začetki oblikovanja in pisava, ki štejeta za začetek grafičnega oblikovanja. Ker med vizualna sporočila sodi tudi naslovnica knjige, na kateri morajo biti ustrezno povezani elementi sporočila, oblikovani v besedilu in sliki, smo na koncu izvedli tudi raziskavo. Izvedli smo jo s pomočjo anketnega vprašalnika, v njej pa smo želeli ugotoviti, v kolikšni meri zunanja vizualna podoba knjige vpliva na izbor za branje pri mladostnikih. Rezultati raziskave, v kateri je sodelovalo 145 dijakov, so pokazali, da zunanja vizualna podoba pomembno vpliva na izbor za branje, vendar le do tedaj, ko še ni znana vsebina knjige.
