Improper use of e -mail consultation inhealth care can lead to serious health and legal consequences, especially, with regards to urgent medical conditions and disclosure of personal and confidential data. In this paper, authors try to present some anticipated advantages and disadvantages of emaii consultation, legal and ethical framework and existing recommendations for safe use of e-mail in health care delivery process. There are some obstacles to full implementation of email consultation in everyday healthcare. The lack of official standards and guidelines is among the most important ones.
