Personality assessment in clinical psychology represents methodological frame for better understanding and treatment of psychological (mental) disorders. Two principles for personality assessment prevail: one is based on psychological concepts of personality and statistical methodology, and the other relies on findings from clinical practice (clinical psychology, psychiatry and related fields). Since we do not yet have a generally accepted paradigm of personality assessment, clinical psychology needs unified concepts and methodology for personality assessment. Several authors have attempted to integrate and unify psychological concepts and methodology of assessment in the last decade. This is the path to development of clinical psychology and psychological science in general</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Prispevek poudarja pomen ocenjevanja osebnosti v klinični psihologiji, glavne teoretske in metodološke usmeritve v ocenjevanju osebnosti, kakor tudi potrebe po integraciji le-teh. Ocenjevanje osebnosti v klinični psihologiji ne predstavlja metode, ampak metodološki okvir, s katerim uresničujemo kliničnopsihološko dejavnost. Ta se nanaša predvsem na razumevanje in zdravljenje različnih psihičnih oz. duševnih motenj. Kliničnopsihološko ocenjevanje osebnosti se po eni strani opira na psihološke koncepte osebnosti in statistično metodologijo, po drugi strani pa na klinična spoznanja s področja klinične psihologije, psihiatrije in sorodnih medicinskih ved. Teoretske in metodološke usmeritve za ocenjevanje osebnosti so zelo heterogene, saj ocenjevalci izhajajo iz različnih filozofskih tradicij in pri ocenjevanju uporabljajo različne koncepte in merske pristope. Kliničnopsihološko ocenjevanje osebnosti še ni doseglo splošno sprejete ocenjevalne paradigme.
