Firstly, the author explains the role of the insurance, as highly regulated and supervised activity. Then some theoretical and practical views on risk based supervision as applied to insurance are explained. Some issues in practical implementation of insurance supervisory practices are also presented. The author concludes with the notion that insurance supervision has its limits and cannot fully protect the insurance activities against failure of insurance companies"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"V prispevku so predstavljena nekatera teoretična izhodišča, nujna za razumevanje reguliranja in nadzora nad zavarovalništvom. V uvodu je na kratko predstavljen pomen zavarovalništva kot strogo regulirane dejavnosti ter pomen nadzora nad zavarovalništvom. V nadaljevanju avtor predstavi sodobna teoretična in praktična izhodišča nadzora na podlagi tveganj ter nekatere dileme, ki se pri tem pojavljajo. Tretji del se osredini na nekatere praktične probleme izvajanja kvalitetnega zavarovalnega nadzora.
