The prevalence of disease-related malnutrition is high in hospitalized patients and is estimated at 30-50 %. To raise awareness of malnutrition in healthcare settings, NutritionDay (nDay) is globally held annually. Methods: The research, which was carried out for the first time at the University Rehabilitation Institute, Republic of Slovenia (URI), took place as part of nDay. The cross-sectional study included 110 (84 %) patients (30 women, 80 men) who were hospitalized at URI on November 10th, 2022. The data were collected using nDay questionnaires available online (www.nutritionDay.org). All patients who were over 18 years of age and signed consent for participation and were cognitively able to participate were included in the study. Results: According to the nDay questionnaire, 34 % of patients at URI are malnourished. The prevalence of malnutrition found by the nutrition team at the URI is 39 %. Twenty-nine percent of patients were receiving oral nutritional supplements and 2 % parenteral nutrition; only one patient had a feeding tube inserted. Among the patients included in nDay, 46 % were treated by the nutrition team. Most of the nutritional treatments were in wards C and III, where the prevalence of malnutrition is also the highest. Conclusion: Based on the results of the research, we can conclude that the prevalence of malnutrition at the URI is high. Involvement of the nutrition team and the regular implementation of nutritional examinations by a clinical dietitian and, consequently, determination of the optimal nutritional strategy is essential for improving the outcome of the patient’s rehabilitation</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Izhodišča: Podhranjenost je ena od oblik motnje prehranjenosti in predstavlja neodvisen dejavnik tveganja za več zapletov zdravljenja, daljšo hospitalizacijo, daljše obdobje okrevanja in višjo smrtnost. Vključevanje prehranskega tima ter redno izvajanje prehranskih obravnav s strani kliničnega dietetika in posledično določanje optimalne prehranske strategije pomembno prispeva k izboljšanju izida pacientove rehabilitacije</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-36OYKYLS"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-36OYKYLS" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-36OYKYLS/bd2ade8d-c2e8-4797-9d24-86b0d5be0e0a/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerzitetni rehabilitacijski inštitut RS – Soča</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-36OYKYLS/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-36OYKYLS" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
