The bridge, which has initiated in its short history many political cover pages in Polish press, is special and important for us, being the fruit of Slovenian engineering. It all started with Ponting engineering bureau Ltd. winning an international architectural design competition in 2012. Our solution won among 68 entries. This was the beginning of a 5 year design period, which ended with the grand opening ceremony on 17 June 2017. Gdansk got the much needed connection between the old city center and the Island of Ołowianka, while Slovenian engineers gained a new recognition and exclusive reference for the future. Most, ki je že do sedaj v svoji kratki zgodovini poskrbel za marsikatero politično obarvano naslovnico v poljskih medijih, je za nas poseben predvsem zato, ker je plod slovenskega inženirstva. Začelo se je s prestižno zmago inženirskega biroja Ponting, d. o. o., na mednarodnem arhitekturno-konstrukcijskem natečaju, ki so ga v Gdansku izpeljali v drugi polovici leta 2012. Takrat je naša rešitev zmagala v konkurenci kar 68 prispelih elaboratov. To je bil začetek skoraj 5-letne projektne poti, ki se je končala s slovesnim odprtjem 17. junija 2017. Gdansk je dobil prepotrebno povezavo med starim mestnim jedrom in otokom Ołowianko, slovenski inženirji pa novo priznanje in ekskluzivno referenco za prihodnost.
