After presenting the historical evolution of R2P, the article offers critical analyses of its three-pillar structure and mechanisms, which are to ensure its operationalization in practice. Taking into account the role Slovenia has played since its inception and its continuous support for the adoption and full implementation of R2P, the article assesses the contributions of Slovenia and its academics in the first decade of R2P. The article concludes with a list of central challenges to be addressed in order to ensure R2P's comprehensive implementation and its doctrinal clarification"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Namen tega prispevka je nasloviti ključne izzive Organizacije združenih narodov pri uresničevanju odgovornosti zaščititi (Responsibility to Protect - R2P) in osvetliti vlogo Slovenije pri tem. Po kratkem prikazu zgodovinskega razvoja sledi ocena vsebine njegovo tristebrne strukture R2P ter mehanizmov, ki naj zagotovijo njegovo operacionalizacijo v praksi. Slovenija od samih začetkov podpira sprejem R2P in njegovo polno uveljavitev v praksi, zato so na ustreznih mestih ocenjeni tudi prispevki države in njene akademske javnosti pri uveljavljanju in širjenju zavesti o R2P v prvi dekadi.
