Razvoj sodobne stiskalnice zajema oblikovanje stiskalnice, konstruiranje in preračun hidravličnih komponent, konstruiranje in preračun električnih komponent, konstruiranje in preračun ogrodja stiskalnice, določitev ustreznega grelnega medija in materialov. Pred konstruiranjem določimo osnovne tehnične karakteristike stiskalnice, površino stiskanja, krmiljenje stiskalnice.
