Employees in nursing, irrespective of their employment position, are exposed to injuries, especially back pain, leading to absence from work. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional survey at the University Rehabilitation Institute in Ljubljana in September 2014. We surveyed all the nurses. Results: The study involved 71 nurses, which represents a 75 % response rate. The estimated internal consistency of the instrument was 0.83. The majority of the respondents were between 31 and 40 years old. The most frequent educational level was high school (69 %). Nearly all (96 %) of the respondents reported that they had already experienced pain after a day at work. The pain was first experienced after 6 to 10 years of working in the nursing profession. The majority of the respondents (78 %) believe that their problems are related to the nature of their work. One third of the respondents have taken sick leave from work due to the presence of pain; the leave lasted for 14 days on average. As many as 96 % of the respondents use nursing devices in their work; 52 % believe that these devices are always available. Conclusion: The presence of work-related injuries and the related absenteeism are high in the setting where the survey was carried out. The hospital management should consider what measures could be introduced in order to reduce the incidence of work-related injuries. It would also be worth exploring the scope of devices for facilitating the moving of patients</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Izhodišče: Delovno okolje zdravstvene nege je zelo zahtevno. Anketirali smo vse zaposlene v zdravstveni negi. Prav tako bi bilo smiselno raziskati področje pripomočkov za lažje premeščanje bolnikov</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-2M2KD4BI"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-2M2KD4BI" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-2M2KD4BI/6ecdae2b-531d-4916-ae55-28ed45dc1e86/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerzitetni rehabilitacijski inštitut RS – Soča</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-2M2KD4BI/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-2M2KD4BI" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
