The review of social institutions, which were run by Catholic women religious, their funding and the way they worked highlights how the social problems were addressed during the process of modernization. The case of Catholic women religious is used to illustrate, how the interpenetration of the religious and social work in one role was used to achieve interests of the Catholic Church. It is of a great importance to understand the historical development of the profession, especially when social rights are being reduced and the ambitions of religious organizations to widen their services in the fields of secular organizations are increasing"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Prispevek predstavlja razvoj institucionalnega skrbstva na Slovenskem v prvih štirih desetletjih 20. stoletja v povezavi z delovanjem katoliških ženskih redovnih družb. S pregledom socialnih institucij, ki so jih vodile redovnice, načinom financiranja in prikazom njihovega delovanja osvetli način reševanja in obravnave socialnih problemov v okoliščinah modernizirajoče se družbe. Na primeru redovnic, ki so opravljale socialno delo, pokaže prepletenost religijske in socialno-skrbstvene vloge ter uveljavljenje interesa cerkve preko tega.
