It presents the network of Slovenian public libraries, analyses the distance of schools from public libraries and data on li­braries of primary school branches. The latter were collected for the first time with statistical measurements of school library activities in 2019/20. As school libraries are often the only option for pupils living in rural areas to access books outside their own home, school libraries should be well equipped, they should have an extensive library collection and extended opening hours. An analysis of branch school libraries, which mostly operate in rural areas, shows that some branch schools do not have libraries, that branch school libraries often do not have their own premises, and reduced open­ing hours. The results of the measurements suggest that students in rural areas have poorer access to library materials and services, and provide clues for detailed research into the library activities in rural areas"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Članek predstavlja analize, ki na posameznih področjih razkrivajo možnosti dostopa učencev do knjižničnega gradiva, in tako poskuša odgovoriti na vprašanje, ali ima­jo učenci, ki se šolajo na podeželju, enake materialne pogoje, kot tisti, ki obiskujejo osnovne šole v mestnem okolju. Pri tem predstavlja podatke o pokritosti slovenskih naselij s knjižnicami, analizo oddaljenosti šol od splošnih knjižnic ter podatke o knjiž nicah podružnic osnovnih šol. Ti so bili prvič zbrani s statističnimi meritvami dejavnosti šolskih knjižnic v letu 2019/20. Ker predstavljajo šolske knjižnice učencem podeželskih šol pogosto edino možnost za dostop do knjige zunaj lastnega doma, bi morale biti dobro opremljene, imeti bi morale obsežno knjižnično zbirko ter čim daljšo dnevno odprtost. Analiza podatkov knjižnic podružničnih šol, ki večinoma delujejo na podeželju, kaže, da nekatere podružnične šole nimajo knjižnic, da knjižnice na podružničnih šolah pogosto nimajo lastnih prostorov ter da je tedenski čas odprtosti knjižnice zelo kratek.
