In the study we used the integration of a quantitative (randomized clinical study) and a qualitative (phenomenological study) research methodology in order to study the short-term effectiveness of the three different Special Olympics (SO) programs of physical activity on physical health and satisfaction with health and to qualitatively study the improvement in this case in athletes with intellectual disability. There were 150 athletes with intellectual disability who were classified into two study groups and one control group according to the principles of stratified randomization. Based on the analysis of the results of the domains physical health and satisfaction with health, we found that athletes in the Fun Fitness Plus and Wellness group achieved a statistically significant improvement in two domains (p <0.001) compared to athletes in the control group</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Sodobna družba se sooča z izzivom, kako ranljivi skupini prebivalstva odraslih oseb z intelektualno in razvojno motnjo v procesu staranja zagotoviti ustrezno podporo pri izboljšanju telesnega zdravja in zadovoljstva z zdravjem in aktivnim življenjskim slogom. Na podlagi analize rezultatov domene telesnega zdravja in zadovoljstva z zdravjem ugotavljamo, da so športniki v skupini Fun fitnes plus in Wellness dosegli statistično pomembno izboljšanje v primerjavi s športniki v kontrolni skupini</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-273V1H8S"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-273V1H8S" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-273V1H8S/9e0e7ecc-ce16-4fc3-8633-b2343b896b1c/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Inštitut Antona Trstenjaka za gerontologijo in medgeneracijsko sožitje</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-273V1H8S/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-273V1H8S" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
