It was partly a translation of the Church history of Eusebius of Caesarea to which Rufinus added an appendix in two books describing the events of 325–395. I will attempt to show in what way Rufinus followed in this appendix the conventions and themes set forth by Eusebius, providing several illus-trations of Rufinus’ writing procedure. The key concerns are Rufinus’ representation of the apostolic succession of bishops, his biographical interests, representation of heresy, the suffering of the Jews, pagan persecution and the expansion of Christianity both outside and within the empire, encompassing the conversion of foreign pagans and the fight against local Roman paganism in Egypt and Italy. Rufinus’ appendix is something quite different form Eusebius’ work. Gone are the numerous quotations of sources, which lend Eusebius’ work an air of impartiality and authenticity. Instead Rufinus’ appendix is based to a large degree on oral sources. Rufinus also displays a deep interest in the miraculous, making his appendix a veritable treasure trove of small and large miracles performed by Christians. All this serves his purpose of showing how God is in fact the one pulling the strings behind historical events, and thus orthodox pro-Nicene Christians always prevail against heretics and pagans, since they have the one true God on their side</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Članek je posvečen Cerkveni zgodovini, ki jo je po gotski invaziji v severno Italijo v letu 401/402 napisal Rufin iz Akvileje, eden najvidnejših latinskih krščanskih piscev poznega 4. in zgodnjega 5. stoletja. Opise čudežev Rufin izkoristi za to, da vedno znova pokaže, kako je gibalo zgodovinskega dogajanja dejansko krščanski Bog, ki poskrbi, da pravoverni kristjani premagajo heretike in pogane</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-1ZW0M7VF"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-1ZW0M7VF" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-1ZW0M7VF/164f2f3c-10ce-414e-a402-da648ac43f67/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerza v Ljubljani, Filozofska fakulteta</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-1ZW0M7VF/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-1ZW0M7VF" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
