The present article is going to show how the motif was realiyed in history, in the work of renaissance artists as del Castagno, Fra Angelico and Leonardo, and latter: Dubus, Coyens, Kircher. After the Second World War the wall-motif was on of the central preoccupations of humanist and existentialist thought: Adorno, Sartre, de Solier, Ponge and Guillevic whose works Dubuffet illustrated. Dubuffet's realisations of the motif show the author's interest in representation of the simple milieu of the common people, their everyday life and psychologyZid je eden najpriljubljenejših motivov v umetnosti informela in tako tudi priljubljena tema slikarjev, kot so Dubuffet, Tapies in Burri. Članek predstavlja, kako je bil ta motiv že realiziran v zgodovini, predvsem pri renesančnih umetnikih, kot so del Castagno, Fra Angelico in Leonardo, ter poznejših, kot so Dubus, Cozens, Kircher. Po 2. svetovni vojni je bil motiv zidu eden osrednjih za humanistično in eksistencialistično misel pri mnogih avtorjih, npr. pri Adornu, Sartru, de Solierju, Pongeu in Guillevicu, čigar dela je Dubuffet ilustriral.
