Besides the hereditary factors and age, nutrition presents one of the main regulators that affect IGF-1. The paradox of the hormone IGF-1, which is nowadays a frequently researched topic in medical literature, is connected with the fact that its values in a U-shaped curve are associated with an increased mortality for any reason in the general population. Low values are associated with increased mortality due to cardiovascular diseases, while high values are associated with an increased mortality due to certain types of cancer. The aim of this article is to substantiate different nutritional risk factors, exercises and lifestyle factors on the values of the hormone IGF-1"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Hormon inzulinu podoben rastni faktor 1 (IGF-1) je najpomembnejši spodbujevalec rasti in razvoja plodu ter telesa v obdobju otroštva, vse do konca pubertete, medtem ko njegove povišane vrednosti v odrasli dobi pospešujejo staranje in nenadzorovano rast celic, kar lahko vodi k nastanku pogostih vrst raka, še posebej raka prostate, dojke in črevesja. Poleg dednih dejavnikov in starosti je prehrana eden glavnih regulatorjev, ki vplivajo na IGF-1. Paradoks hormona IGF-1, ki je danes v medicinski literaturi pogosto raziskovana tematika, je povezan s tem, da so njegove vrednosti v obliki \"U\" krivulje povezane s povečano umrljivostjo iz katerihkoli razlogov v splošni populaciji.
