First, we confront the caring masculinity hypothesis with the theory of social reproduction and then check for evidence of the hypothesised link in empirical data on gender segregation in care work and in a case study of two nursing homes. While in our case study we find evidence of values associated with caring masculinities, their political effects seem more repressive than emancipatoryČlanek kritično pretresa pojem skrbne moškosti in domnevno povezavo med vpetostjo moških v skrbstveno delo, temu ustrezno identitetno spremembo in od tod izhajajoče emancipacijske učinke. Hipotezo skrbne moškosti avtor najprej sooči s teorijo družbene reprodukcije, nato omenjeno povezavo ovrednoti s podatki o spolni segregaciji profesionalnega skrbstvenega dela in s študijo primera v dveh domovih upokojencev.
