Clinical trials support the use of saw palmetto fruits, African pygeum bark, common nettle roots, and recently studied hypoxisrhizome. In traditional folk medicine, the use of pumpkin seeds and small flower hairy willowherb (Epilobium) has been established. S kliničnimi dokazi je najbolj podprta uporaba plodov žagastolistne palme, lubja afriškega pigeja in korenin velike koprive, med novejšimi pa korenike hipoksisa. V tradicionalni ljudski medicini so se uveljavili zlasti semena navadne buče in zel drobnocvetnega vrbovca.
