In the article, the author presents the definition and different forms of poverty anddescribes reasons that prevented efficient abolition of poverty in Eastern European countries, the status of women there and its relation to poverty, as well as the effects of poverty and social exclusion of people because of it. State based interventions are mentioned shortly. Nursing care is closely connected with the problems of poverty. Poverty affects health status. In the frames of nursing care, several actions can be taken to reduce the effects of poverty on health. Even more could have been achieved in cooperation of nursing care with other caring professions in common projects"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Revščina je stalni spremljevalec družbe in je tudi zgodovinsko pogojena. Avtorica v članku predstavlja definicijo in njene različne oblike. Opisani so zgodovinski vzroki, ki so vplivali na prisotnost in nezmožnost hitrejšega odpravljanja revščine v vzhodnoevropskih državah, položaj žensk v teh državah in njihovo povezanost z revščino, učinki revščine in družbena izključenost skupin ljudi kot posledica revščine. Nadalje so na kratko omenjeni ukrepi proti revščini na vladni ravni. Zdravstvena nega se tesno povezuje s problemi revščine. Revščina vpliva na zdravstveno stanje prizadetih oseb. Posebno ženske so izpostavljene revščini ali skrbi proti revščini.V okviru zdravstvenenege so možni različni ukrepi za omejevanje vplivov revščine na zdravje.
