One of the most common forms of malignant disease is further promoted by unprotected exposure to the sun. The development of most skin cancers is closely related to exposure to UV radiation from the sun. In general, skin cancers are divided into melanomas and non-melanomas. The much more common type, non-melanoma, often occurs on chronically sun exposed skin. In 80 % of cases it is basal cell carcinoma and rarely squamous cell carcinoma. The non-melanoma type more often affects fair-skinned people, is more common in men and occurs in older people. Usually it does not radiate, and the most common treatment is surgical removal. Melanoma, on the other hand, frequently metastasizes and represents the vast majority of deaths caused by skin cancer"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Kožni rak je eden izmed največjih globalnih javnozdravstvenih problemov. Spada med najpogostejše oblike malignih bolezni, h katerim še dodatno prispeva nezaščitena izpostavljenost soncu. Nastanek večine kožnih rakov je tesno povezan z izpostavljenostjo UV-sevanju sonca. V splošnem delimo kožne rake na melanomske in nemelanomske. Nemelanomski tip nastane pogosto na koži, ki je bila prekomerno izpostavljena soncu skozi daljše časovno obdobje. 80 % nemelanomskih tipov predstavlja bazalnocelični rak, redkejši je ploščatocelični rak. Nemelanomski tip pogosteje prizadene svetlopolto populacijo, pogosteje prizadene moške in se pojavlja pri starejših ljudeh. Običajno ne zaseva, najpogostejši način zdravljenja je kirurška odstranitev.
