Three steps are necessary for an effective crack length determination from the measured compliance: (a) numerical determination (by FEM) of the compliance versus crack length function; (b) finding the inverse function; (c) comparison of the numerically determinec crack length with the measured crack length (by some other method) and calibration of both.
