S tem poskuša pri drugih posameznikih povzročiti določena čustva in občutke, misli ter pogosto tudi delovanje. Avtor v nadaljevanju body art performans opredeli kot družbeni, kulturni in politični pojav, kjer performer z uporabo različnih neprijetnih marginalnih avtorefleksivnih telesnih tehnik ustvari dogodek na površini lastnega telesa in pod njo, in sicer z namenom investicije (neprijetnih) čustev in občutij v telesa gledalcev.
