The author defines a body art performance as an artistic, social, cultural and political phenomenon where body art performers produce an event on/under the surface of their own body by employing different repulsive marginal auto-reflexive body techniques as an investment of (unpleasant) feelings and emotions in the bodies of spectators. A body art performance also serves as a vehicle for expressing private concerns about common issues in public</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Avtor v članku s pomočjo Crossleyevega koncepta refleksivnih telesnih tehnik opredeli koncept avtorefleksivnih telesnih tehnik, in sicer kot tiste telesne tehnike, s katerimi akter učinkuje vzvratno na lastno telo z namenom, da bi telo na poseben način bodisi preoblikoval, ga ohranjal ali kako drugače tematiziral. S tem poskuša pri drugih posameznikih povzročiti določena čustva in občutke, misli ter pogosto tudi delovanje. Avtor v nadaljevanju body art performans opredeli kot družbeni, kulturni in politični pojav, kjer performer z uporabo različnih neprijetnih marginalnih avtorefleksivnih telesnih tehnik ustvari dogodek na površini lastnega telesa in pod njo, in sicer z namenom investicije (neprijetnih) čustev in občutij v telesa gledalcev.
