There is often a stigma attached to debtors, who have not seldom also been accused of fraud by hiding their assets. These views were widespread in Europe until the twentieth century, and Slovenia was no exception. The article presents the image of bankruptcies and debtors, as can be understood based on sources from the period of Austria-Hungary and the interwar Yugoslav monarchy. The most common approach to financial collapses was moral outrage, and the press often wrote about bankruptcies through the prism of political or national affiliation, defending members of the same political group and attacking opponents. The views of the bankrupt debtors and creditors themselves are also explored</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Stečaj je pravni postopek ukinitve poslovanja prezadolženega posameznika ali podjetja, ki je zaradi svojih nezaželenih posledic skozi zgodovino veljal za skrajno negativen pojav. V sklepu so raziskani še pogledi samih stečajnih dolžnikov in upnikov</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:DOC-VXFD4W2S"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:DOC-VXFD4W2S" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-VXFD4W2S/cc2007fa-990a-42ad-9afe-84b273933588/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Zveza zgodovinskih društev Slovenije</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-VXFD4W2S/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-VXFD4W2S" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
