Products, such as clay roofing tiles, facing bricks and ceramic tiles, which are constantly exposed to weathering, have to be frost-resistant to have a long service life. In order to predict the frost-resistance of ceramic products, certain laboratory tests have to be performed. How ceramic building materials react to frost action depends on several different variables. On the basis of the results of several years` experience in frost-resistance tests, an attempt has been made to characterize the frost damage occuring during these tests in relation to manufacturing factors, such as the type of material, its composition and properties, and the production method. Some cases of in-situ frost damage are presented at the end</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Ena pomembnejših lastnosti gradbene keramike, ki je izpostavljena različnim vremenskim razmeram, je odpornost proti zmrzovanju. Predvsem odpornost proti zmrzovanju vpliva na trajnostno dobo strešnikov, fasadne opeke in keramičnih ploščic za zunanje oblaganje. Za določitev odpornosti proti zmrzovanju se uporabljajo različne preskusne metode, s katerimi skušamo predvideti vedenje materialov v okolju, kjer prihaja do zmrzovanja. Način, kako se keramični materiali odzivajo v takem okolju, je odvisen od različnih dejavnikov. Na osnovi večletnih izkušenj pri preskušanju odpornosti proti zmrzovanju smo karakterizirali vrste poškodb glede na vpliv različnih faktorjev pri proizvodnji teh materialov, kot so sestava in lastnosti izhodne surovine in faze proizvodnega procesa.
