Waste gases from the production process of formalin production must comply with EU environmental regulations, which are expected to require a reduction in the content of formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds. In this goal, we have developed two methods: a process involving the upgrading of existing processes for the removal of formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds with an additional absorption device, and the process of co-incineration of waste gases generated in the process of obtaining formalin with metal oxide, with natural gas in a gas turbine, where formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds are completely removed, while electricity is also obtained. Computer simulations were performed with the Aspen Plus software package, taking into account the equilibrium absorption constant and the reaction of low formaldehyde concentrations in water. Economic analyzes have confirmed that it is possible to significantly reduce operating and fixed costs and reduce formaldehyde emissions by more than five times in the case of the first method (silver catalyst) and to zero in the case of the second method (metal oxide catalyst)</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Doktorska disertacija obravnava energetsko optimizacijo delujočih procesov za proizvodnjo in nadaljnjo predelavo formaldehida in zmanjševanje obremenjevanja okolja s posebnim poudarkom na minimizaciji celotnih količin emitiranega CO2. Odpadni plini proizvodnega procesa pridobivanja formalina, morajo ustrezati okoljskim predpisom EU, ki bodo pričakovano zahtevali zmanjšanje vsebnosti formaldehida in hlapljivih organskih spojin. Računalniške simulacije smo izvedli s programskim paketom Aspen Plus, z upoštevanjem ravnotežne konstante absorbcije in reakcije nizkih koncetracij formaldehida v vodi. Ekonomske analize so potrdile, da je možno z ustrezno zasnovo vzporedno delujočih procesov znatno znižati obratovalne in fiksne stroške in emisije formaldehida v okolje zmanjšati za več kot petkrat, v primeru prve metode (srebrov katalizator) in na ničelno vrednost v primeru druge metode (kovinskooksidni katalizator)</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">visokošolska dela</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">theses and dissertations</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q1266946" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:DOC-V8B4IE33"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:DOC-V8B4IE33" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-V8B4IE33/bf5244dc4---0f1ce597b6b7d4f4317a29d-/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerza v Mariboru, Fakulteta za kemijo in kemijsko tehnologijo</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-V8B4IE33/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:DOC-V8B4IE33" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
